Course Information

The course consists of 3 Modules.  Each must be completed satisfactorily before moving on to the next.  We are slowly publishing the modules, currently only Module 1 is available for the interested participants.

Module 1 is an introduction to the philosophy, the need for, and essential aspects of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (EHV), and how these Human Values can be applied to participants’ nominated context of interest.

Participants will be guided to reflect on the full range of EHV concepts and practices and relate them to their own school, home or other workplace contexts.

Module 1 involves 48 hours of engagement with course content, plus some additional reading or fieldwork for some lessons, to be completed within 15 weeks of the starting date.

Module 2 aims to develop a deeper understanding of the science and philosophy that supports EHV. It will consider how EHV can be applied to a range of contexts, such as schools, parenting, workplaces, community service activities or working with a variety of disadvantaged groups.

Module 2 involves 48 hours of engagement with course content, including some additional reading or fieldwork for lessons, and should be completed within 15 weeks of the starting date.

Both Modules 1 and 2 are offered as coursework.

Module 3 involves an individual project on a topic of interest identified by the participant during Modules 1 and 2.  This includes a report of 4000-6000 words (15-20 pages). A supervisor will be allocated to offer support for this project.

Course format

At present, the course is offered completely online, via Moodle.  It will be asynchronous, so participants can study at their own time and pace within the time constraints of the module.  A facilitator will be available for each lesson, to answer questions and give feedback. Participants will be asked to share some ideas or aspects of their work with others through a forum. Where possible, online zoom discussions will be held at the end of each Unit, to encourage co-learning, sharing, and cooperation.

 Assessment

The assessment will be on a pass/fail basis.

For Modules 1 and 2, each lesson will have assessment tasks that will need to be completed and submitted by the dates indicated in the lesson.

A pass will be awarded based on timely, satisfactory submission and participation/engagement in chat rooms where specified.

  • All lessons must be passed in order to complete a unit.
  • All units must be passed for the participant to receive a pass for the module.
  • Progression to the next module is dependent on satisfactory completion of the one prior.

Module 3, the individual project, will also be assessed on a pass/fail basis.  Assessment will be done by the project supervisor and one other course team member.  Participants will receive feedback on their final project, based on an assessment rubric.
